EBONVOID STUDIO UPDATE 5

I recently got back in the studio with guitarist Fred Daneson to record guitars for Ebonvoid's upcoming release. Its really exciting to hear these songs with the guitar! Really brings out the attitude! We also recorded some scratch vocal tracks for the song "Until My Shadow Disappears". The chorus is sounding really powerful!

This month we have another long rehearsal booked to work on all the new stuff. I have another new song in the works that I think will be album worthy if I can get it done on time. Also I have found a really great metal event here in Tokyo. Hopefully we will have the demo's ready this month so I can book a live date in January or February.

So here we are. Moving slowly forward but always moving forward. Enjoy the video!

We are still accepting donations for our recording fund. Thank you to those who have donated! The recording will be made regardless of any further donations. But if you donate you help us make it the highest quality possible plus you get the music when it is done.

Ebonvoid Studio Update 4

Just got back in the studio with drummer Zak Bond and recorded what will probably turn out to be the title track of album. The song "Until My Shadow Disappears" is probably the strongest of our nine or ten tracks that we plan to record. This song talks about not giving up in a world gone totally mad! I think we can all identify with that. The session went really smoothly. The good folks at KRH always make you feel relaxed while recording. They have cookies and coffee which is the secret to making true face melting metal mayhem. Three songs down and six or seven to go! It is hard to believe that I have been working on this project for over two years now. I have no time but still its going somewhere. When I write the music I only have a window of about 15 or 20 minutes a day. We can only rehearse or record once a month because we are all so busy. That's life in Tokyo! But in retrospect maybe it is a good thing that we are taking our time and only concentrating on one song at a time. With each step I can feel this machine getting more powerful and the enthusiasm around the project is what keeps me going. I'm planing on getting a live date pinned down soon and we will be recording and rehearsing again next month. Take care and enjoy this video!

Ebonvoid recording update 3

Recently Zak Bond and I got back into the studio and laid down the bass and drums for Ebonvoid's upcoming release. The session went really smoothly and we got a great drum sound. I can't wait to start recording the guitars, keys and vocals. This record is going to be quite a strong statement. Next month I will be setting up our first gig. More on that later....

Originally I wanted to be done with the recording by the end of October but it looks like that will be impossible. This is the busiest summer I have seen since I moved to Japan. Many of the musicians I know here say the same. I have been involved with some laborious writing jobs with deadlines all about the same time. Our guitar player went back to France for some time and next month Zak will go on tour. Got to make a living! Looks like we will have to push back the recording. My new goal is to get it out in January or February but I will take as long as necessary to make this recording great!

Here is a quick video of Zak and I rehearsing some sections of tunes that we recently recorded. Enjoy! Also we are still accepting donations for our recording fund. Thank you to those who have donated! The recording will be made regardless of any further donations. But if you donate you help us make it the highest quality possible plus you get the music when it is done.
